12/15/2024 The Dining Car Restaurant will be open for dinner service only.

Community announcement:

(To prepare to grow into some of our improvements and to make updates that have long been needed in our vintage dining cars, (kitchen, floors, electric, restrooms, etc), we will be closing the restaurant from Jan 2, 2025 -March 31, 2025 .

While it could be disappointing in the near term, this is the least disruptive, slowest time of year for us to make these upgrades. If we are able to open earlier, we will let everyone know as soon as we do, and we want to be conservative now so that people can plan advance travel adventures with the best information that we have.)

Until Then . . .

Delight in amazing breakfast classics or try some fabulous dinnertime offerings. If you’re looking for something light and refreshing, you can’t go wrong with one of our gorgeous, tantalizing salads. Just remember to save room for dessert!

Dine indoors or take advantage of the warm weather and fresh air and dine al fresco beneath stunning Castle Crags as our mixologists whip up a delicious beverage you can sip beneath the stars.

Dine in a Railroad Car

The Dining Car Restaurant is one of the most interesting restaurants in Dunsmuir, CA. Built inside authentic, vintage railroad cars, the restaurant is a museum itself. Inside its antique cars is an atmosphere steeped in nostalgia. Antique hand tools, gauges, pictures, signals and other artifacts recall the glory days of railroading in the west and specifically the Dunsmuir and McCloud area.

Above the bar is a hand built scale replica of the Southern Pacific Cascade, which once plied the rails between San Francisco and Portland. Enjoy your favorite cocktail or a specialty drink. In the warmer months, relax on our patio deck and gaze up at the view of Castle Crags. The Dining Car Restaurant offers an experience unlike other restaurants in Dunsmuir.
